An introduction to the boxing martial art style, Wu-Gong Boxing. Created by professional boxer and martial artist, Xavier Wukong Wilson, this style is an amalgamation of martial art principles aligned in a boxing lens. Wukong has done martial arts for 28 years, and boxing for 12 years (becoming professional in 2016. With a record of 12-3-1 and a hunger for understanding the art of boxing beyond competition, Wukong embarked on a journey through Asia to learn all types of martial arts. This is called a "Musha-Shugyo", or warrior's sabbatical/learning journey, in Japanese. The concept is to go out into the world and become a sponge, using your own martial art style to survive and learn.
In this journey Wukong encountered many masters. From learning the incredible Shin Kyokushin Karate style with Kim Il-Nam and Shinji Sakamoto, to traditional Kyokushin with Kobayashi sensei in Japan, to the meditative martial art, Seon-Mu-Do at Golgulsa temple in South Korea, and even to Muay Kao (clinch fighting) at F.A. Group Muay Thai in Bangkok, Wukong's journey gave an incredible perspective on combat systems and the way of fighting.
Wukong continues his journey, and teaches boxing everywhere he goes, this book is the introductory entry to a series that will delve into complex technique, competitive psychology, and best practices of boxing and martial arts in general.
